To reserve an available puppy, please email Indianrockwhiteshepherds@gmail.com with information about your experience with dogs and in particular with raising a puppy. Tell us all about your expectations and what you have planned for the life of one of our puppies, We are very particular about where our puppies go a and it is crucial that our puppies are matched only with humans that will appreciate them and give them the kind of loving home we want for them. By telling us as much as possible about yourselves in an email, you can help s to know what questions to ask when we talk by phone. E mail is checked daily.

The Monks of New Skete breeders and authorities on German Shepherd Dogs, have written a book “The Art of Raising a Puppy”. Please acquire and read this book. It is an invaluable resource for adopting a puppy.

We require a deposit of $300 to hold a puppy. Deposits can be made by check or PayPal. We encourage you to visit our home and see the parents and the puppies. You may pay your deposit at that time. Please understand that puppies can only be reserved when a deposit is received. Only send a deposit when you are sure that you are ready to adopt an Indian Rock puppy. Your deposit is not refundable if you back out.

Please read out Contract and Guarantee. You are required to take your Indian Rock puppy through an obedience class by 6 month of age. You and your puppy will receive the most benefit from puppy school if begun at 4 months. There is a window with a shepherd when his learning is at peak, after this window closes his ability to accept new experiences will be greatly diminished- this window starts to close at about 6 months of age! The window will open back up, but teaching your pup obedience/socialization skills after this age is more difficult. Socialization of your puppy should begin immediately upon bringing him into your home, ideally at 8 weeks of age this will make obedience class less stressful for her. It is tough to take your puppy places before this age because of the fear of diseases he may be susceptible to because his immune system is not fully developed, but you must be creative and find places to take her such as homes of people you know and trust, beaches at low tide that have been cleansed by the sea. Invite friends to come to your home to meet the puppy. Plus plenty of car rides. Be sure puppy can see out of the car window to avoid carsickness. Allow your puppy to meet new people, other animals, and new places; this will prevent her from being fearful or aggressive when she is taken out in public even though she is fine in her own home. This can be overcome in an older un socialized pup, but it is difficult and very stressful for the pup and lots more work for you. The importance of obedience training is two fold. The puppy will be well mannered AND it builds confidence in the puppy and strengthens the bond between you and your puppy. Think about how you will arrange the obedience classes in your schedule BEFORE you purchase a puppy from us. You should already have an obedience training picked out BEFORE you take your puppy home.

Indian Rock Shepherds are strong. athletic dogs. They enjoy walking, swimming, hiking and love the snow. Mountain biking, running on a hard surface and carrying a pack should not be attempted until the dog is full grown. We encourage puppy buyers to find and activity they can enjoy with their new puppy. Off leash areas where dogs can run and play are important. Walking, hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and playing fetch are good for you and for your dog. Agility, Search and Rescue, Obedience, Conformation showing, Fly-ball and Weight Pulling are some competitive sports for your dog. White Shepherds are active dogs that are highly intelligent. They need a human best friend. They are not a dog that can be expected to hang around the house and do nothing.
